Detective

To be a detective, you have to be really smart. Keep an eye on things, you know. And be able to sort important information from the unimportant information. To be a detective, you also have to be able to follow evidence to wherever it may lead you. Sometimes evidence is pretty obvious. Like which direction the cat and his leash-mate went.

Detective Enok, at your service.

It smells good...

Hey Husse. What are you having? It smells pretty good. Hot dog? With mayo?

Huh. It smells better than it looks. You can keep it. I don't want any.

Husse seems pretty happy about that decision. He can keep the beer too.

Sun

I'm chillin' in the sun. Please do not disturb. *Happy sighs and purrs*.

A gift!

6th anniversaries are nice! I got a gift!! It's jewellery. Yep. Amber. Really nice stuff, I'll tell you.

I can wear it as a necklace. Looking good, looking good!

This is Matte showing off - she wants the world to know how pretty it is. It is now safely connected to my  harness so I look even more handsome when I go out!

Anniversary!

Today is my 6th anniversary with Husse and Matte! We will celebrate tonight. I'm hoping for tuna. Or lamb. Or just kisses and cuddles and a walk!

Matte made me...

I'm sorry Husse, Matte made me add this to the blog... Sleep tight ;-)

Missing Missan?

If the neighbours miss their cat, I can tell them where she is. She's were she's NOT supposed to be! On my turf!! I brought Husse along and we went to make sure Missan got the message to GO AWAY. She's not very bright, Missan. It took a while, but I finally chased her from the pergola to the bushes. Ha! Matte apparantly thought I was the hero of the hour, as she came out to give me a triumphant Matte-ride back to the house. Yay!

First come, first serve

First come, frist serve! Husse, will you be sleeping on the dinner table tonight? You can grab your pillows, we're not using them. Skuggan is just around the corner to claim her spot. No, you won't make it. There's no way a human is ever going to win a race against a cat. Sleep tight!

Dinner in bed

I really don't understand why they insist on eating on my bed. Even more strange: they are allowed to eat on my bed, but I am not. I guess they are right in a way, it's not nice to nap in the midst of crumbs. Now I have to nap on whatever they've dropped. I really don't know how that adds up. But at least they had the decency to clear the... table-bed(!) before they took the picture.

Better safe than sorry

Morning walk usually doesn't result in very many meetings with others. An occasional blackbird or, in Matte's case, mosquitoes. This morning, while peacefully drinking water from the birdbath in front of the house, I saw some movement in the street. The biggest, meanest, most evil looking big brown labrador walked by with his Matte on a leash. I decided to take refuge immediately. When my Matte was safely indoors, I stood guard until I felt certain the dog did not come back.

Mosquitoes and butterflies

Matte is really fond of the wildlife in our garden. She has been feeding the hedgehog (he likes salmon skin) and there are seven (!) bowls of water of different sizes for birds and insects. Matte keeps herself busy keeping them filled with fresh water. Lately she has started to complain about mosquitoes. Every time we come indoords, there are two new itchy bites. I guess mosquitoes are not insects, or else Matte would have appreciated them more. I still have to figure out butterflies. I like the name: butter is good, but then they fly away... rather difficult to catch, I suppose. Matte seems to like them - at least enough to take a picture of one together with me. It doesn't look buttery at all.

Crayfish!

Where have you been all day? I've been waiting up. Glad to see you came home, but you could have tried to make it earlier.

My bowls are almost empty... Almost starving, I'll tell you!!

Ah!! What's that lovely smell? I want some, I want some, I want some! Now!! Nah, not the bottle thing, that's pure evil. Them crayfish, yum! Give 'em to me! Now!!

... I successfully stole part of a crayfish when Husse and Matte were busy with the boring bottle. I sure got their attention, phew! They can be pretty fast sometimes. Matte decided to give me some of the crayfish butter she dug out fresh from the little creature. Ah, that was delicious! When will we have our next crayfish party?

Julia's party... not!

"It's my party and I cry if I want to..." This was obviously not my party. I'm locked up in my room all by myself and everyone is outdoors having a good time. Oh, why, oh, why, oh, why? "This room is a prison to me. I want to be free, like a bird in a tree..." Hmm. I think I prefer to be free like a cat chasing a bird in a tree, but I don't think that song has been written yet. "Is there anybody out there?" "See you later, alligator!"
Love, Julia

Matte's mornings

What's this obsession with mornings, Matte? She showed me "morning walk" today and not to disappoint her, I came along. I took her around the corner of the house, then drank some water from the bird bath. That was plenty for today. When she opened the door to let me in, I jumped straight up to my favourite spot and got started on my morning wash. Matte, you need to get your priorities right. And please don't forget who the real boss is. Have a nice day!

Pure joy

After sleeping in all day yesterday, I was full of energy when we took our evening walk. Our apple tree was taken down this summer but quite a bit of it is still there. It is a magnificent scratching pole! Ah, the sensation of digging your claws into a real tree at a perfect angle. Pure joy!

7:30 am is not morning

I am sooooo tired today. Matte came and showed me "morning walk". Morning walk, is she mad? At 7:30 in the morning? On a Thursday? When it is going to rain? Has that ever stopped me before? (No, it hasn't, but I honestly thought Matte could read my mind.) Sleep well today!

Shadows

This is Matte and me out on our walk yesterday. It was such a lovely evening! We walked quite far and had a great time up until that car came along. It scared me. Matte picked me up and we cuddled for a bit before we decided to jog back to the house.

Real mean hiss-machine

This picture was taken last fall, but Matte thought it appropriate for the story I'm about to tell. We were out walking, Matte and I. I stopped by the kolkwitzia, and Matte stood by my side. We waited there for a long time and Matte was getting a bit restless. That's when I got up, stared out in the street and made sure Matte understood I wanted to go out there. Matte then saw her too (humans are a bit thick at times). Missan, my enemy. Missan finally gave up the staring contest and decided to go home. I let her go with the meanest hissing and growling noises Matte had ever heard. Yeah, I'm a real mean hiss-machine. I'm bad, I'm bad, you know it, I'm bad...

Watch the world

These lovely summer days, Matte and I have been taking rather long walks. We've continued to check out the streets where I've only walked once before. Now I've been there several times. It's pretty cool. The corner house has a really neat outer flower bed where I jump in and explore the jungle.
This morning, while in the jungle, Andreas the Neighbour came with his furry friends, Tarzan and Cindy. Cindy and I checked each other out, she's a real whimp and was kind of scared. Good, she knows who the king of the neighbourhood is. They're both jack russell dogs, about my size. Dogs are really indiscreet, they sniff bums. I sat down. They went their way and I decided to bring Matte back to our turf.
That's our house on the left. I've never really gone very far up this street where we live. There are so many cars crossing the road just a few houses up and I don't like cars. They're fast and the make the ground shiver. Scary stuff, that is. It's kind of neat just watching the world go by from the garden, though. Yesterday quite a few people on bikes passed. That's fun to watch. I loved it when Husse came on his bike this morning, I got out to greet him. He was mighty pleased!
