Happy New Year!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Skuggan and I are enjoying New Year's Eve with Husse and Matte. We are all having a really nice supper. Skuggan and I were given a wonderful duck delight for Christmas (thank you so much, P&P!), but I'm a bit picky... Skuggan had both our shares. Then Matte served a shrimp dish for main course. I liked it very much, but I guess Skuggan got a bit picky... I'm saving her share for later!
HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Artist at work

Yepp, you are now going to watch an artist at work! Someone who can sleep anywhere, anytime and in a position you didn't think was possible!! The great artist, SleepMaster Enok, shows you two of his best tricks. Please be very careful if you want to try this. It took years and years of training!

Payback!

Enok and I played under the kitchen sink today. We're not allowed to go there, but sometimes Husse and Matte let us in. I usually hide beneath and then Enok hits me on the head when I try to get out. Today was payback time! Enok was hiding and I got to do the hitting on the head. I really got into this game! The picture isn't the best... but if you look very closely you will see white fur from the corner of my mouth... Payback time!

Merry Christmas!

Christmas is an intresting event. I have never bothered about the tree before, but Skuggan enjoyes it a lot. She likes to pull the silvery stuff off it and we find that very entertaining. Especially the part when Husse or Matte tries to put it back again! Today, Husse and Matte rearranged the furniture. I found a great spot on what Matte calls the "smorgasbord table". I'm hoping for lots and lots of different cat food!
MERRY CHRISTMAS! Enok and Skuggan

Being brave

Skuggan is finding her place in our home and she is becoming brave. She used to spend most of her time in a bookshelf or under a bed. Now she has found other favourite spots. The chair in the living room and the sofa bed in the tv-room are two of them. But she still doesn't want Husse or Matte to hold her or pet her.

Snow!

There's been a lot of snow out there... I have been taking my little walks with Matte - after she has cleared a path for me, of course! It is much warmer indoors, so I don't go out much. Skuggans doesn't seem to mind. She has been checking out the snowy balcony pretty much every morning. She even uses my scratchpole and sits in my favourite spot. Hmm, we'll talk about that when it's warmer!

I Skype!

I am such a modern cat! I can skype, isn't it amazing? Husse helped just a little with the setup. I let Husse and Matte do the talking, though.

Breakfast

"Meow!" "Yes, sir, how can I help you?" "Meow!" "Of course, breakfast for two. Fish for the lady and meat for you, sir?" "Meow!" "Coming up!"

Skuggan got a gift

The other day, Husse came back with a gift for Skuggan. She has been checking out some of the furniture in a... well, let's say in a way that Husse and Matte have not really appreciated. So Husse brought her a scratch pole. To make it attractive, they sprayed it with some catnip... and I love it! Skuggan doesn't really care.

Upstairs, downstairs

We're finding our places in the house, Skuggan and I. I am still "upchairs" and she stays "downchairs". That is fine with me!!

Cat fight

This morning, Skuggan and I got into a fight. Matte sprayed some catnip on a towel for us to play with. We weren't interested in it at all. After a while, Matte played some Dot with Skuggan. Skuggan thought that was great fun! I hadn't had my breakfast, so I guess I was a bit moody. When Matte got up to take a picture of Skuggan playing with Dot, I thought it was about time to set Skuggan straight. The video clip shows what happened immediately after the screaming and fighting (when Matte got out of her initial shock...).
Matte and I then took a really, really long walk together to clear our thoughts. When we got back in, Skuggan and I got a well deserved breakfast (first for me, third for Skuggan...). I got Matte started on my blog, Skuggan and I are napping peacefully.

Large lap

One thing I appreciate about Matte is that her lap fits two cats. That came in handy last night, when Skuggan decided to join us by the tv. Matte was very flattered and hardly breathed, not to scare Skuggan.

We want breakfast!

We want breakfast!
We want breakfast!
We want breakfast!
It was really nice to have cat company while eating breakfast this morning. Skuggan followed my every move. Matte has behaved very well and has shown Skuggan how well trained she is. Getting us breakfast, emptying the litter box and taking me for my morning walk. When Matte and I walked in the garden, Skuggan watched us from the window sill.

Skuggan

So this is the big deal. Skuggan. This is why the library door has been closed. This is the creature behind the interesting smell. She goes by the name of Skuggan until we know more. She is a lost-and-found cat. Matte's mom is really good at taking care of lost cats. Her Julia, me and now Skuggan!
Skuggan occupies the library, that's her room. I own the rest of the house. I wonder what happens next?

Last Tuesday...

It has been a very strange week. Let me start from the beginning. On Tuesday morning, Matte's mom came over. This is very unusual. Husse and Matte then closed the door to the library and went to work.
That night, I got to sleep on Matte's pillow. It was very cozy! But very unusual... I wonder what is going on around here?

Spooky Spider

Days are getting shorter, nights are getting longer. That's fine by me, I have my own schedule anyawy! Sometimes I like to sit alone on the balcony and contemplate. Sometimes I am not alone...

Run, Matte, run!

Honestly, Matte! Did you really think you could run faster in these shoes? I really like the pattern and true, it sure makes you think of a very fast animal. But thinking about them is a looong way from actually getting somewhere close in speed. Sorry, Matte, you're just as slow as ever.

Help to get cleaned up

Yepp, sometimes it is good to get some help to get cleaned up. It had been raining and my paws got really, really dirty. Husse had a few things to say about me walking all over the kitchen counter... I thought it safe to head for the dishwasher immediately to show my good intention to get a thorough clean-up! Husse got in a playful mood and brought some tissue, so we played for a while. Or was he trying to help me get cleaned up?

Cats shouldn't go hungry

No cats should go hungry. No cats should feel that they are not loved. No cats should be without a home.
Matte got up early both Saturday and Sunday, but instead of taking me for my early morning walk (I had to yell at Husse so he got up and took me out), she drove off to feed a hungry, homeless cat. Matte's mom took on the responsibility, but needed some help Saturday and Sunday. Matte was glad to help and very proud when the homeless cat talked to her today! The cat is still shy and stays out of reach, but the goal is to find her a new home, worthy of a cat!

These cats have no problem finding food and shelter - they live at a stable close by. The girls who have their ponies there love the cats.

Salmon on Saturday

Saturday night. Husse is preparing dinner, Matte is... I don't know what. She's doing something with pots and plants and dirt. I know what dirt is good for, but she seems to have other ideas. Anyway, Husse is making dinner and he offered me some. They're having salmon. I am not. I got a dish and it smells terrible. I'm a meat-and-potatoes-man. Well, not so much the potatoes... But I'd rather have the potatoes than the salmon!

Neighbour watch

We are part of the neighbourhood watch team. It is a very important duty and we take it very seriously. I have learned that it is important to look people in the eye and say "hi" like if I know them. It's scary sometimes, but that's when I hide and watch them without them knowing it... Nosy? Nah! This is science, this is. And our neighbourhood hasn't been invaded by burglars since I joined the team!

Sunday morning

Sunday mornings are really nice! Matte and I took our early morning walk. It is a really cold morning, Jack Frost was here last night. After first breakfast, Matte and I cuddled for a while and then I got my second breakfast. Once the dishwasher had finished its job, Matte opened the lid for me. What is your favourite morning like?

lördag 9 oktober 2010

I said no!

I said no! No, no, no! Sorry... I mean: no, thank you. It is very nice of you to offer me some tea, but I'm fine. Didn't you hear me? Well, I'll show you what "no tea for me" looks like:

New sofabed

We got ourselves a new sofabed! Husse and Matte bought it, but before making their final decision if they wanted to keep it or not, they needed my approval. I approve! It is very nice. Husse and I have been sharing it for the past week, he had a cold and had to stay home from work.

Sea buckthorn

See sea buckthorn? Haha! Husse and Matte went out a few weeks ago and came back with bags full of sea buckthorn. I wonder what they are going to do with it? It is supposed to be very rich on vitamin C, so I am guessing something healthy.

söndag 3 oktober 2010

Ryder Cup

Husse, Matte and I watched Ryder Cup (golf) together, but Matte is not as intersted in golf as Husse is. I took the opportunity to join Matte in the world of dreams...

Aftermath

What day is it today? What happened yesterday? Did I have fun? Who brought me home? Did I sleep here all night? Who will help me get out of this bed? Is there anybody out there...?

Note: Enok did not taste any of the contents of the bottle. He is just waking up from a nap!

Clean cupboard

I thought Husse and Matte were still on vacation, but I don't know anymore. They are busier than ever, doing all kinds of weird stuff. Today Husse has spent lots of time in the basement, working to put things in good order after the flooding incident. Matte also kept herself busy, she filled the car and went to the recycling station. We also cleaned out some cupboards. I took the opportunity to clean myself too! After the chimney check, that was absolutely necessary.

Chimney check

We haven't used the fireplace since last winter. Last winter was long, indeed, but it is still important to make sure that the fireplace and chimney are in good order before next winter. Husse cleaned out the fireplace and Matte bought some fake flowers and put it there. It looks really nice and is clearly more fun to investigate than an empty, sooted area. Neither Husse or Matte checked the chimney, though. I took that upon myself and we can now rest assured that everything is in good order.

Singin' in the rain!

I'm siiiiiinging in the rain!
Just siiiiiinging in the rain!!

Skills

Only a skilled cat can get into a skillet :-)

On a rainy day

Despite the fact that Matte has a day off, she got up early. Says she couldn't sleep - I still don't understand that. Either you sleep or you don't, easy!! We both appreciate the cozy morning we have together. We cuddled and had breakfast. Matte showed me that it is raining outside, so I decided to chill instead. What better place is there than the apple basket?!

måndag 13 september 2010

Checking

Back home again after two weeks, everything needs to be checked. Husse and Matte thoroughly went through the house. I did too. We check different things. I took care of the garden myself, they didn't bother. I even checked the wood pile. We were a bit low, but luckily Claes and I had the same thought: last night we got a load of new wood from him! Thank you!!

söndag 12 september 2010

Home, sweet home!

I have stayed at the wonderful cat hotel "Äntligen" for 2 weeks. It is great fun there! I get my own apartment with a small garden. Yesterday, Husse and Matte came to pick me up. I was really happy to see them again and I told them how much I love them. They were really glad to see me too. I kissed my new girlfriend goodbye and then I went home. I missed my girlfriend a bit, so I decided to sleep in Matte's bed during the night. I enjoy my vacations at Äntligen, but home is where the heart is!

Don't go!

Matte was going on a business trip for a couple of days and was trying to figure out what to wear. She put her stuff all over the bed. I like routines, I didn't want her to go. But I took the opportunity of sleeping on her clothes. That was good in two ways: I really smelled Matte and she brought lots and lots of Enok-hair on her clothes to the office in Stockholm!

Resting in the shade

This summer has been wonderful. It's been a bit too warm - even for me - a couple of days. Most of the time it's been great weather. Matte and I enjoyed going outdoors together. She brought her phone and could text her friends when we sat down for a while. This picture is taken just outside the house. We sat there for quite a while, enjoying the peace and quiet. Matte is texting away and I keep watch.

Post-op

Sorry it's been a while - my photographer (Husse) didn't upload the picutures from his camera until now. My secretary (Matte) didn't want to blog until she had the pictures.
I am doing fine after the operation, I lost three teeth and got the few remaining cleaned thoroughly. My breath is wonderfully fresh and I am more kissable then ever!! The worst part is waking up from the operation. It takes about forever and Matte doesn't want me running (as if I could...) up and down the stairs in the house, so she locks me into the living room. Terribly boring! But she's sweet about it, she and husse locks themselves into the living room together with me, so I am not left alone.

Me, waking up after the operation. It takes about forever and is boring. Can't stand up, have no energy and my mouth was numb. I drooled a lot the first few days.

What a day...

First, I would like to thank Sol for commenting on my blog, I appreciate it very much!

Now, I really need to tell you about my day... It started last night, Husse and Matte behaving very strangely. They didn't give me my evening snack, for one thing. I asked for it several times but they were pretty good at distracting me.
I was rather hungry when I got up this morning and clearly indicated to Matte that we always start with my breakfast when she gets up. She totally ignored me! She had a shower and then brought out the leash for a walk... We had a wonderful morning walk though, we were out for about 20 minutes.
Back indoors, it was Husse's turn to ignore my kind request for breakfast... Instead he brought out my travelling cage. Now things get exciting! I got in the cage looking forward to going somewhere fun! Turned out we went to the vet...
I don't mind the vet, really. There are lots of nice smells and lots to look at. But stay there over day and get operated on? Not fun! Because of my tooth disease, the vet removed 3 of my teeth. So now I know why Husse and Matte didn't give me any: it is the first stage of operation... Next time, I'll know...

Nope, no mice here

Friday night, Matte made up the guest couch into a bed. I helped, of course! It is nice and soft, so I walked back and forth over the cover and pillow several times. It's fun to go behind the couch to - it's not accessable when it isn't in its usual state. Nope, no mice there!
