Rudolph

Glad Lucia!
Matte wanted to provide a Lucia-picture but we couldn't find the appropriate stuff. I am white, so no need for the dress. Candels - nah, better safe than sorry! I did burn my whiskers onces. So we settled for Rudolph. The antlers are a bit big, but imagine a flying Rudolph!! From all of us to all of you: Glad Lucia!

Aunt Jenny!

It's auntie Jenny! She came to stay! It was so good to see her again. I am impressed she knew our routines and she has a very nice, warm nap-lap, let me tell you. I purred and cuddled and got my lie-in. Thank you! I love you auntie Jenny!

Patience

Something is going on and I think we're having someone over. The sofa-bed has been made up Husse and Matte seem to be on their toes. I decided to keep an eye out for whoever it was, so I could give them proper warning. Strangely enough, Husse and Matte were the ones to leave. Looking forwad to seeing who they bring back!

So here is the sofa-bed. Skuggan and I tried it out and it is useful for a good night's sleep. But there's not room for anyone but us :-)

I wants it

I wants it, it's mine, my precious! Husse doesn't need that pillow, does he? I am a bit short on pillows in my corner, there's only... hmmm... about five or so. Husse should know by now who the boss around here is.

Christmas already?

Matte went up to the attic to get some Christmas stuff. What? Already? Well, it's her decision I guess. I decided to watch over (under) her. There's a hole in the ceiling she climbs into, which means she might fall down. Husse and Matte, however much I love them... nothing in the world can make me claim they are as agile as cats.

Exhausting!

Matte and i went to the vet yesterday. I really, really don't like to go there. I started holloring in the car and really made my surroundings understand how I felt about the situation. People at the vet's office turned and looked, but hey, that's ok. They can look. I sat under the chair while Matte talked to the vet. It took about forever. They also gave me a shot! It didn't hurt, but I didn't like it. I am not quite comfortable with the knowledge that Matte was given several syringes that she brought home...
Once we left the vet's office, I was very tired. I almost fell asleep in the car. When we got home I went straight to bed!

Eavesdrop cat style

Even a deaf cat, such as myself, can eavesdrop on other cats. It is not as difficult as it may seem. Cats leave messages all over, trust me! When I took Matte for her walk today I saw a nice, blue car on our driveway (not the one in the picture). Interesting! I brought Matte over so we could check it out. And that's when I tuned into this conversation:
Julia "This is my new car! I love it, it makes a good addition to the rest of them"
Nisse "Wow! But you're wrong, this is now my car. I claim it. Haha!"
Julia "But, no... You can't do that! It's mine, it's mine, it's mine! My Husse says so, ha!"
I really look forward to that car's next trip and return so I can keep you informed of the exciting discussion!

Digest

Oh, please don't misunderstand my previous blog-entry: sleeping is very, very important. And a great hobby of mine, I'm actually an expert. Breakfast truly is the most important meal of the day. Then you need to digest and the best way to do that? Sleep! By that time Husse and Matte have gotten started on their breakfast, so Skuggan and I can nap in style. By the time we wake up, my stomach usually says "breakfast!" again!! Matte thinks it's an evil circle.

Sleep in

Husse and Matte wanted to "sleep in" this morning. What an utterly ridiculous idea! Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Don't mess with breakfast, that's what I say. So I gave them 20 minutes and then demanded they got up. Matte staggered out of the bedroom, I'm not sure she was awake until after coming down the stairs... I'm thinking they secretly love getting up when I tell them to, otherwise they would have figured out they could leave breakfast out for us as a 24-hour buffet long ago.

Cutting Corners

Cutting corners didn't really mean what I thought it meant. Who cares? I still think it's a funny title to this blog-entry! Matte is a bit less appreciative of me on the bannister, she thinks I'm gonna fall off. Huh! I'm a cat, I am. But I think I might have won part of the battle of the dining room table: they don't make me get off it as much as they used to. Are they getting lazy?

Heads or Tails

Heads or tails? I call tails!

Or should I call heads? I win either way, don't I?

Anniversary meal

Husse is preparing dinner and what do I smell? Lamb! I love lamb, I can't believe Skuggan asked for lamb! No, she didn't? She asked for shrimp? Ah, that's what I thought. Ladies like shrimp and seafood and stuff. Us men, we like red meat. Yeah! I begged Husse for meat, I patiently waited by his feet while he took his time preparing the meat. Matte kept saying "no, the vet says only diet food for Enok". Bxxxs..., that's what I say. Give me lamb! Now! I got so anxious I jumped up to Husse trying to steal a bite. That's when Matte gave up. Skuggan was given her dish and I got some too. What a feast! I didn't get enough though, I begged for more. I now know what addiction means. As Skuggan only had a small bite and then left it, I got her plate too. Yum! I think I'm part wolf. (No, sorry, they're out of shrimp so Skuggan didn't get any. They will have to make it up to her.)

Shaving cream

Good morning! It is a rainy morning. Skuggan decided to go out on the balcony , but I really don't like it wet. So I ventured into the bathroom to check out how things were coming along. Any breakfast coming up yet? Who's in the shower? What a nightmare that invention is... It gives me the chills! Anyway, I scouted the cabinet and I found shaving cream. Shaving cream? Huh... the vet has shaved my leg a few times, but I never got any cream. No wonder Husse likes to spend a few minutes alone in the bathroom every morning! What a treat.

Celebrating Skuggan

Celebrating Skuggan! Two years ago today, Matte's mom came rushing in with Skuggan in a cage. Skuggan moved into the library where she stayed for a few days. Today, Skuggan and I share the house with Husse and Matte. We love you Skuggan, happy 2 years!

Molly and Sally

Husse and Matte went to Höganäs today to visit Grandma, Molly and Sally. Molly and Sally moved in with Grandma on Monday and they are to keep each other company and teach each other new things. Grandma has already learned a lot about cats. The first, very important lesson, she already knew: cats are not dogs! Molly likes to rest in the windowsill, watching traffic and birds and people passing by. She's a real beauty, all grey. Sally is a shy one, almost as shy as Skuggan was. She looks just like Skuggan too! They are lovely ladies, maybe I should ask Husse and Matte for a harem?

Mites

So another visit to the vet. We went there yesterday and I told Husse and Matte that I did n-o-t want to be there at all. Then it was kind of fun watching the dogs coming and going, so I spent my waiting time doing that. We got to see the nice vet again, Niclas. He confirmed that I have allergies. Mites (kvalster). Yuck. Mites are e-v-e-r-y-w-h-e-r-e! So disgusting! Anyway, I am to stay on cortisone another two weeks. Then Dr Husse and Nurse Matte will have to keep a close eye on me for 2-4 weeks before my next treatment begins. It is something called hypersensitivity, I will be getting shots to be able to stand the little mites better. Hopefully I'll be fully cured, but I will still have to take the shots every month for the rest of my life. I guess it's better than getting my teeth brushed daily.
Safe under Husse, at the vet's

Best Magazine!

I found the best magazine ever! Reading about all them birds, wow! There's lots of nice pictures too. I try to keep the magazine from Skuggan, she gets much too excited. I like to watch the birds, she likes to hunt them.

The Help

Feeling better and better, which is nice. Now Matte is trying to take advantage of me, making me help out. I set the table and now I am just exhausted! Please don't make me do anything else! Not until... next week? Matte, should we take a walk? Let me bring the leash so you don't get away from me.

Ryder Cup

So, Husse and I are watching Ryder Cup. Golf. You know. Europe vs USA?! It is a very important cup!! they're in the Chicago area now and the US... well, they're up. Still keeping my toes crossed for Europe. Matte? Well, she's downstairs trying to watch "Young Victoria" or something else girlish. Skuggan is a good sport trying to get more food. Between the two of us, we're getting pretty good att bossing our humans around. I think it should be called "catting" instead of "bossing". Oh, back to Ryder Cup. Excellent birdie there! I prefer birdies!

Back to normal

Back to normal! I brought Matte on a walk around the house this morning. Husse insisted on giving me my medicine first, it's a gel that needs to be rubbed in. It's just until Monday, according to the vet's instructions. I still have bald spots on my head, over my eyes toward my ears, but otherwise, hair is growing back all over. Since I don't wear that stupid collar anymore, I walk around the house again. Hated that collar, I bumped in to things all the time.

Back to normal when it comes to strange solutions as well. According to Matte, that is. Making the bed in a cat friendly way is putting cover over it and tucking the cover away. It's partly successful. Skuggan is also very pleased things are back to normal!

Off!!!

The collar is OFF! Husse and Matte took it off yesterday, saying they wanted to trust me not scratching the itchy parts. I even got to spend the night with them on their request. I guess they wanted to keep an eye on me. I was very, very careful and cleaned myself thoroughly. It felt so good!! Matte says I still have a yeast infection, but it doesn't look as bad anymore.

Collar off!

This morning, Matte took off my collar! It's back on again, but I got to spend about an hour and a half without it. What joy!!! I took the opportunity to get myself all cleaned up. Such a relief, let me tell you. Matte does her best, but you can't clean a cat the way a cat does. We also took a walk in the garden, which was great. I really hate that collar. Can't wait to get rid of it for good. Husse says it won't be long now.
Shower booth, dining room, bedroom. Perfect space!

I still got breakfast in bed!

What a relief to get all cleaned up!

Difficult!

Another morning with the collar on. Sigh. Matte brought me downstairs so I could do my business. Phew! Then I caught The Matte-Ride upstairs again and we decided to get some fresh air, Skuggan and I. While out there I thought I'd clean my bottom. That proved more difficult than what you would have imagined. Especially since I was on the slim top shelf. Good thing I have a strong tail, I didn't fall off, though it frightened Matte for a second. I want to get rid of this collar. Now.

Dog??

Seriously, Matte, i think we need to talk to that vet you make me go to. He doesn't seem to know the differnce between cats and dogs... Look at the medicine he prescribed!

Fresh Air

Fresh air! I caught The Matte-Ride outdoors and it was fabulous to smell fresh air! Skuggan kept me company. The Matte-Ride has also carried me downstairs to the litter box. What a relief!! I have been eating and drinking to Matte's satisfaction today. Yesterday I wasn't thirsty at all and she was very worried. Today she is very pleased with me. She worries about different things each day. This morning she called the vet becuase she thinks I have a yeast infection. Sigh!

Nurse Skuggan

She can say what she wants, Skuggan, but she always keeps an eye on things. She's been a really good nurse to me. Especially when it comes to cleaning up. You know, food I drop? She doesn't like the vacuum cleaner, but she does a pretty good job of it herself.

onsdag 26 september 2012

Germs?

What? Sick? Germs? Can I get sick too? I'd better stay out in the fresh air and try to stay healthy! On top of everything else, Matte decided to vacuum the floor. I haaaate that noise! The balcony seems the best alternative in many ways. See you later!

Sick sucks

I'm sick. It sucks. But there are some good things to it, might as well enjoy it while it lasts. Like getting brekfast in bed. Matte brought me my bowl of water and the new diet food on a tray. It looks fancy and I appreciated it. Husse was great at giving me water, holding the bowl at the exact right angle. The collar I'm still wearing is in the way, so I am greatful for help.
My sickbed is a cupboard. Haven't I told you before that cupboards are very, very useful? I spend most of my time in here, sleeping a lot. Last night Matte left some food in the drawr and the bowl of water in the left handside of the cupboard. That way she could offer me a midnight snack when she got up to sneeze in the middle of the night. She didn't want to leave it out in case I accidently would knock it over. Or Skuggan would attempt to steal my food...

Paragon of Virtue

Watching opera with my Matte and my Husse. We had a lovely time, let me tell you! Especially I did, since I am deaf. I'm pretty sure opera isn't my kind of tea... or music, for that matter. I was a true "paragon of virtue", let me tell you! Do you know the Swedish translation? No? Well, I didn't "cry behind closed windows" either. Now, enlarge the picture... See? Still boring. Boooorinnnng! Sleep was the much better option, so that's what I did.

The Office

Huh? Uhm, no, yes, well, uhm... Enok speaking. What? Not the phone? Oh. No, I didn't fall asleep. I'll get the door. No? No one knocked? Oh. Yeah, I guess... a brief nap. Very brief. Two seconds, maximum. Promise. Yeah. Talk to you later.

Garbage...

No, I am not garbage. Why? Is Matte throwing something away? I thought she was part squirrel and was going to put her most precious belongings in the bag. She wants to keep everything forever and ever. So here I am!

Moo!

Moo! I am a raindeer! Hahaha! With the extraordinary loud noises I can make with my collar, anyone who doesn't know better would think they had a reindeer in their living room. The megaphone effect is quite spectacular. Moo!

World Watch

We are watching the world! The world is just outside our window. Nice! Sometimes a friend comes by, like Missan. We like to watch the world more closely when Missan is out there. Missan isn't exactly a friend though, s/he doesn't understand that this is our territory. It's still nice to have visitors!

Collar Cat

*Sigh*. What can I say? My allergies grew really bad, itchy itchy itchy... On Tuesday Matte took me to the vet. I told her loud and clear what I thought of it. The vet's assistants all turned their heads when I came through the door, pleading Matte to turn around and go back home. Matte signed me in "this is Enok and he does not want to be here". Yep, she was sure right about that one!

Anyway, the vet was really nice. He didn't hurt me at all and I didn't have to spend the day there. Phew! The vet ordered a new diet (yummy!! I love it!!), an antibiotic (really tasty!) and a collar... No, don't like it. At all. It gets in the way all the time. All the time! I am serious!! I can't scratch, I can't clean myself, I find it difficult to eat, drink and use the litter box. The collar bumbs into everything. Can't wait to get rid of it.

Street Smart

Hey, little fellow, you gotta be street smart. Be careful crossing the street, cars are dangerous. Let me help you, make sure you get to the sidewalk safely. There you go! Good boy! Hope to see you later.
